Meet The Farm Animals

Miniature Jersey Dairy Cow
Abbey is our 16 year old gentle giant! She was born right here at Avila Valley Barn and has been enjoying the lettuce her visitors bring her ever since! Most dairy cattle live till about 10 years old making Abbey VERY old. For this reason she is sometimes a little slow and receives arthritis treatment.

Our famous pygmy goat
Rooftop Ralph is famous for taking over the rooftop in the goat yard. She ( yes- she's a gal, to our surprise when she recently had her first babies!) stands tall on her rooftop in hopes to get tossed those fresh leafy greens without anyone stealing from her!

Mama & Daughter Alpaca Duo
Lilly and Rosie are often confused with llamas, but their small stature gives away their alpaca breed. Alpacas are very people friendly having lived alongside humans for over 6000 years. They are typically bred for their ultra-fine fibre, that can be made into hypoallergenic garments!

Miniature Donkeys
Stella and Dot are the best of friends! In fact, donkeys are known for needing to be kept in pairs due to their strong bond. Our favorite thing about this duo is watching their fun personalities at feeding time when they kick their legs up and bray in excitement!

Farm Cat
Thelma is our resident farm cat who loves socializing with our visitors in and around the farm stand. If its a warm day, you'll often find her basking in the sun upon a crate or exploring down in the fields checking on the chickens!

Miniature Scottish Highlander Cow
Georgia was born in 2019 and has been with us since 2021. Highlands are known as one of the friendliest cattle breeds, and our sweet Georgia certainly is no exception!

Avila Barn's only male pygmy goat
Teddy is the man of the farm, making him the dad to all of our babies you see in the spring! He's got that billy goat look with his long beard and strong horns.

The Emu
Elmo often gets confused with a young ostrich, but he's an Emu! Emu's are a species of flightless birds endemic to Australia, where it is the largest native bird. Emu's are social birds as you will find with Elmo when you visit! Elmo is the baby of our two original emus we rescued back in the 80's!

The Farm Dogs
Kona and Milo are our beloved farm dogs belonging to our owners Jake and Raven.
Kona enjoys being out in the fields helping Jake with the farming, while Milo likes to relax around the office with Raven!

Baby Doll Southdown Sheep
Newest to the farm are our baby doll sisters! These gals were born in March of 2025. This English breed is famous for its size (maxing out at 18-24 inches) and their sociable personalities.
They just arrived to us on July 9, 2025 so please give them time to adjust to our farm!
