| All About Our Ice Cream |
| Our long-time dream has finally become a reality! We wanted to create a unique experience of fresh, homemade style ice cream. In late 2005, we opened our Ice Cream and Sweet Shoppe here at Avila Valley Barn. |

| An old-time favorite and local company, SLO Maid Ice Cream, became available just as we were completing our own ice cream and sweet shoppe. Using the best of their recipes, we combined new improvements based on our research and ice cream science classes taken at Penn State and Cal Poly Universities. The result is a new level of ice cream perfection–yet taking you back to the early 1900's when making ice cream was a heartfelt craft and art form. Just like the turn of the century, our ice cream is still made by hand in small batches almost daily for the ultimate in freshness. |

| The milk we use comes from Cal Poly University, which has the only remaining dairy in the San Luis Obispo County. Their herd of Jersey and Holstein cows produces a beautifully blended, delicious milk. The Jersey milk is especially rich, full-bodied, and is higher in protein than other milk. We also use the very best, high-quality ingredients–the finest natural flavorings, nuts, coffees, candies, and fudges, and our very own fresh fruits. |

| Sixteen ice cream flavors are offered regularly at our shoppe. Flavors like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, coffee are offered regularly, while our specialty flavors such as cinnamon, pumpkin, and rum-raisin change from month to month. We will keep a list here for you, in this section of our site of our regular and specialty flavors, so you won't miss out on your favorite flavor. |
